Starting in 1977, Neptun began using locally sourced PVC compounds to supply quality PVC gumboots to the agriculture and general industry. After much research, growth, and innovation we expanded our footwear range to supply the forestry, mining, and food processing industries as well as launching a range of metal-free safety boots.

Undeniably Innovative

In 2005, Neptun Boot launched the pioneering Shosholoza Gumboot, now known as the Stimela Gumboot which won the prestigious Design Institute South Africa award in the Mining and Industrial category in 2007.

After the success of the technologically advanced Stimela Gumboot, Neptun Boot released the Stimela XP Gumboot which is the first metal-free, heavy-duty gumboot. Its features include an integrated metatarsal protector, composite toe cap, and an anti-penetrative textile midsole.

Neptun Boot’s, Stimela and Stimela XP mining gumboots are tested under severe mining conditions and combined with the innovative metatarsal protector and ankle technology it ensures the entire foot is protected and comfortable. These innovations have proved to be invaluable for the mining industry.

Cradle to Grave Policy

At Neptun Boot, we also introduced an environmentally friendly ‘Cradle to Grave‘ policy with the mining sector. This forward-thinking initiative minimizes the number of mining boots ending up in landfill, whereby old mining gumboots are recycled and their materials are used again to make new gumboots.
